Protecting our environment

Investing in our community

Our commitment to the local Kinloch community

We are always aware of and endeavour to do all we can to support the beautiful environment in which we live.  Being local, we understand the importance of community, and we want to do all we can to help ours thrive.

Over the years we have been a part of many events, including the Kinloch Triathlon and Kinstock music festival, and have held a strong interest in preserving the natural world around us. Since our work on Seven Oaks, we have supported organisations, such as Nicholas Singers Ecological Solutions, in an enhancement project to  regenerated the bush around the area, in particular along the Okaia Stream, removing a lot of the weeds and pests and replanting native trees and shrubs.

We are proud to be involved with many community activities and causes

Wetland enhancement project

One particular project we have committed to is the Okaia Stream wetland enhancement project. This project has been ongoing for the past 12 months and is managed by Nicholas Singers Ecological Solutions. Although largely out of sight for most people, it’s something we are doing to support our local environment and help it thrive.

Seven Oaks Ltd have been greening wetland and surrounding forest in the Okaia Stream Scenic Reserve below Kahikatea Drive. Prior to our work the area was infested with willow, poplar, broom and blackberry. These weeds were cleared and in their place we have planted nearly 1,100 eco-sourced plants. In the spring, totara, rimu and kahikatea were added and over the next three years we will be looking after these trees and controlling weeds to ensure that the wetland and forest flourishes.

We’re also proud to have been involved in many other events and projects in Taupo and Kinloch, including:

  • The annual Kinloch Triathlon – as a regular, major sponsor
  • The annual Kinstock music festival – as a regular, major sponsor since its inception
  • As sponsors of the Whangamata Stream walk upgrading projet
  • Sponsored the Kinloch Community Association security camera project in the Lisland/Oakdale roundabout
